Sharks November Newsletter

Dave Modzelewski

Greetings YNS Families!

As we begin to enter November and close out the 2nd month of our Short Course Season, we wanted to send along a recap of the past two months of successes and fun that our Team Members have had, as well as highlight a few things to look forward to in November!

We had a few very successful Meets thus far, our IMX/IMR Challenge, the fun Pumpkin Meet in Peabody, and this past weekend’s Meet in Salem, NH. Between all three Swim Meet, we had nearly 90% best times or first time swims which is outstanding and clearly shows how much our swimmers have learned during the beginning of the season. Our goal for October was to complete as many events as possible for the first time this season to create personal baselines for the rest of the season, needless to say, MISSION ACCOPMLISHED!

We also had some fun events such as our Trunk or Treats in Beverly and Ipswich, the pumpkin carving event during our IMX/IMR Challenge, the Salem Haunted Parade, and our local site parties to celebrate the beginning of the season and our first home swim meet. Thank you to all volunteers who helped coordinate these efforts!

As we look ahead in November, we have a bit of a quieter month. We start out with our 2nd Team Apparel Fitting, where Varsity Swim Shop will have the following items available: Backpacks, Hoodies, Warm-Up Jackets/Pants, & Parkas. We are inviting any swimmer who attends the fitting to our Beverly Practice Groups for the day (please see the event info for Practice Times). If you are unable to make it, there will be an order form similar to the Swimsuit Fitting and will be available for purchase online. Again, you will likely NOT be going home with any items as this is just an ordering period. But the items should be arriving in time for the Holidays should you be purchasing gifts!

We will begin handing out Swimmer T-Shirts next week and before the Swim Meet, so everyone can be wearing a Team Shirt on deck at the Meet. We will also be getting the Parent T-Shirts in later this week, and will distribute them the same way.

We are also hosting a big Prelims/Finals Meet which is an all-day affair on Saturday & Sunday with a half day on Friday. We will be looking for all hands on deck (no pun intended) in order to run another smooth and successful Swim Meet. During this Swim Meet, we will be hosting a Food Drive for Beverly Bootstraps, more information will be provided when we get a little closer.

We will also have a slightly different Practice Schedule surrounding the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will post this change on the Practice Schedule page when it is finalized.

Thank you to everyone who helped make September & October such a success! From Parents to YMCA Staff, Swimmers, and Coaches, a job well done! Just keep swimming!

Go Sharks!
