Long Course Season Glimpse Ahead
Greetings YNS Families,
As we wind down our Short Course Season, we wanted to share with you the plan for the upcoming few weeks as we head into our Long Course Season from April to August.
End of Short Course Season
This weekend will be the final Meet opportunities (Florida & MIT) for almost all of our Swimmers. We will still have three Swimmers representing YNS at the YMCA National Championship at the beginning of April.
Next week, (3/25 – 3/30) we will not have any practices for any groups (including PreTeam). Please use this time off and away from the pool to relax, recover, and remember why you love swimming so much! Take the time to do something you enjoy, spend it with family, or maybe catch up on homework! Our Coaching Staff will also be taking this time to begin planning our next season, and recovering a little bit as well!
Beginning of Long Course Season
We will begin our Long Course Season on Tuesday, April 2nd. Practice Schedules will be released very soon and will be emailed out as soon as they are approved. You can expect them to be very similar to what they currently are. When we get to the end of the school year, you will see a new Summer Practice Schedule, which will vary from normal because of the YMCA’s program scheduling.
If you are part of our PreTeam, your Practice Schedule will be included in the same Practice Schedule release as the rest of the Team.
Long Course Season Swim Meets
We will be hosting two Meets this Long Course Season. One towards the beginning of the Season (April 26th & 28th), and one at the end of May/beginning of June (May 31st – June 2nd). Please save those dates on your calendar to support our own Home Meets! We will also be scheduling numerous opportunities for all groups and levels that include a mix of Long Course and Short Course opportunities.
If you are part of our PreTeam, we will also have at least one Meet scheduled for your Swimmers towards mid-July (actual date TBD based on Coach/Pool availability), and will be located in Marblehead. We are working on creating a second opportunity at a time & location TBA.
Long Course Season Group Placements
We will also be announcing new Group Placements next week to those of you who have Swimmers who we think are ready for the next step in their swimming journey. The Coaching Staff considers many things before deciding to move up a Swimmer. Every move we make, or do not make, has the swimmer’s best interest at heart and in mind. We want all of our Swimmers to be in the best possible learning environment, with teammates of similar age and/or ability, all while making sure that they are ready to be successful for the next level of our Team. If you are wondering why a certain decision was made, please reach out to your Lead Site Coach for more information.
YNS Anual Team Banquet
We have already announced our YNS Annual Team Banquet, being held on May 1st at Danversport. Please remember to save the date, and be ready to RSVP when we send out the Invitation via TeamUnify. We always look forward to this fun event to remember the success that our YNS Swimmers had over the past Long Course & Short Course Seasons. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Catherine Matook (Catherine.matook@gmail.com).
If you have any questions on anything mentioned above, please contact your Lead Site Coach.
Good luck to all of our YNS Swimmers competing this weekend in Florida & MIT! And congratulation to all on a great Short Course Season!
Sincerely,
Your YNS Coaching Staff
